About

Jeff Woodman received his initial training from the late Romana Kryzanowska, the heir to the classical tradition of Joseph Pilates, continued his study with Amy Taylor Alpers and Rachel Taylor Segel, and received his comprehensive teaching certification from the world-renowned Pilates Center of Boulder, Colorado in 1994. Jeff has taught athletics and movement for over 40 years. He began teaching and coaching swimming while in high school, and his interest in dance led to a career which included performing, choreographing, directing, and teaching classical ballet. While teaching at the school of the Colorado Ballet, Jeff was introduced to the Russian method of classical ballet by the late Jürgen Schneider. He continued to study and teach this artistic and scientific method with Mr. Schneider and the faculty of the Colorado Ballet for several years. Through his study and teaching of the Pilates method of contrology over the last 20 years Jeff continues to discover the depth and beauty of the wonderful work that Joseph Pilates created for all of us. The focus of Jeff’s teaching is to use his expertise and creativity to help clients build strength and tone muscles for renewed flexibility, function, and vitality.

Sabine Amend enjoys movement and treasures the opportunities to share this enjoyment with her students. As a certified GYROTONIC© and certified GYROKINESIS© instructor, her approach to teaching is attentive to each person’s needs and goals. She is deeply respectful towards the constraints and resources afforded by living in a human body. A successful competitive swimmer in high school, Sabine later discovered somatic approaches, improvised movement and embodied expressive arts. In addition to her GYROTONIC© education, she received graduate-level training in Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) at the Laban Bartenieff Institute for Movement Studies (LIMS), New York, and became a Nia instructor. Since 2009, she has taught GYROTONIC© and GYROKINESIS© private sessions and group classes in Boulder, Longmont and Ft. Collins. She has studied with Master Trainers Clyde-Rae Jolie-Ashe, Cori Doetzer, Angela Crowley, Lindsey Hansen-Sturm, and Erika Hassan. She appreciates the instructor community at the GYROTONIC© Boulder studio as a source of inspiration and support.

When not found in the studio, she is probably on the road internationally as a facilitator of transformative learning and change leadership processes in organizations. She is also a PhD candidate in the Taos-Tilburg Social Sciences program. Her research investigates the role of movement in organizational change processes.

“I love teaching and helping people move joyously and efficiently.”
